About CBX Temperature Controlled Solutions

ClimateCrate and ClimateCrate FLEX are mobile refrigerated shipping and storage containers provided by CBX. These solutions offer precise temperature control performance and uniformity at all points in the chamber, even in the hottest or coldest climates.

They are designed to solve critical pain points associated with climate-controlled shipping problems and are trusted by leading pharmaceutical and biomedical logistics companies for FDA-compliant shipping, monitoring, tracking, and reporting of high-value, sensitive products.

The ClimateCrate FLEX provides the same active temperature control and monitoring capabilities with the same pallet-sized cargo interior dimensions. The difference is that the ClimateCrate FLEX was reconfigured to reduce the exterior height of the unit in order to be suitable for loading into high-roof cargo vans.

Active temperature-controlled shipping and storage systems actively regulate the temperature of the cargo space using powered cooling and heating mechanisms. This provides greater temperature precision across varying ambient conditions. Read “Passive vs. Active Temperature Controlled Shipping” to learn more about the differences.

Our solutions meet FDA CFR Title 21 regulations and CDC recommendations for the storage and transport of pharmaceutical products and ingredients. CBX offers detailed monitoring, tracking, and reporting services to maintain the integrity of the cold chain. Our control tower team monitors the climate parameters and location of sensitive shipments 24/7, providing live alerts and fast responses to critical events. CBX can also generate FDA 21 CFR Part 11-Compliant Trip Summary (TEMS) reports to validate temperatures in 5-minute increments throughout the entire trip. When the unit is off, the average time to reach the following setpoint temperature ranges is:

Controlled Room (CRT) (+15°C to +25°C) ~ 2 hours

Refrigerated (REF) (+2°C to +5°C) ~ 4 hours

Frozen (FRZ) (-20°C to -18°C) ~ 8 hours

Our national network of depots enabled easy, fast deployment throughout the country.

The standard placement service is via LTL carrier with an average unit placement time of 2-3 working days. While this can vary depending on the distance between our depot and the loading, CBX will inform you of deployment/placement accordingly and discuss alternatives if quicker placement is needed.

ClimateCrate and ClimateCrate FLEX are designed to be easily integrated into existing logistics systems. Our solutions are used by numerous leading Temperature-Controlled Logistics (TCL) companies and are designed to work with less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments.

CBX temperature-controlled solutions are ideal for a variety of industries that benefit from precise temperature control and monitoring during shipping and storage.

The ClimateCrate and ClimateCrate FLEX are designed to support ground transport of temperature-sensitive cargo. However, our units can be used as a key solutions to support parcel-sized cold chain shipments at airline warehouse locations.

Operation Questions

Before loading, cargo should conditioned to match the setpoint temperature of the unit. This helps eliminate possible temperature fluctuations of sensitive cargo and helps extend battery life.

Preconditioning can be arranged based on client needs. If your unit is delivered preconditioned, the temperature can be verified using the unit display located on the ride side of the unit.

It’s important to verify the necessary setpoint temperature to safeguard your temperature-sensitive cargo and maximize battery life. Please note that accurate battery life is only displayed when the unit is unplugged.

To optimize battery life, ensure the unit is at the desired setpoint container before loading. Keep the unit plugged into an electrical outlet while loading and ensure proper airflow is maintained once the unit is loaded (do not exceed the top fill line and keep product away from interior walls).
